Common Errors and Fixes
Quick solutions for typical Autotag issues.
Last updated: 2024-12-01
This guide covers the most common issues and their fixes. Most problems are configuration-related and can be resolved by adjusting your profile or view settings.
"No Elements Found to Tag"
Autotag found no taggable elements in the current view.
Likely Causes
- Profile filters exclude all elements in the view (check category and filter settings)
- Elements are in a linked model but Include Linked is off
- View VG hides the categories you're trying to tag
- View is on a level with no MEP elements
Fixes
- Verify elements exist: manually select a duct or pipe in the view to confirm
- Check profile categories: ensure the relevant categories are enabled
- Enable Include Linked if elements are in linked models
- Check VG: ensure MEP categories are visible under Mechanical/Piping tabs
Tags Not Visible After Tagging
Autotag reports success, but tags don't appear in the view.
Likely Causes
- Tag annotation categories are turned off in VG
- Tags are placed outside the crop region
- View scale makes tags too small to see
Fixes
- Check VG → Annotation Categories: ensure tag categories are visible
- Zoom to Fit or temporarily disable crop region to see if tags are outside
- Check view scale -tags may be very small at certain scales
"Tag Family Not Loaded"
Autotag can't find a tag family for one or more categories.
Fix
Load the required tag family (Insert → Load Family). Standard MEP tag families are in the Revit library under Annotations. After loading, Autotag will detect the new family automatically.
License or Sign-In Issues
"Please Sign In" or "License Not Found"
- Click Account in the Bimrock ribbon and sign in
- Verify your credentials work at app.bimrock.ai
- Check your internet connection -license validation requires connectivity
"License Expired"
- Check your subscription status at app.bimrock.ai
- Renew to restore access
- Contact support@bimrock.ai if you believe this is an error
Performance Issues
Autotag is Slow
Large models with many elements take longer. To improve performance:
- Reduce categories in your profile to only what you need
- Use selection to limit scope instead of tagging the entire view
- Close other Revit projects to free memory
- Process views in smaller batches
Revit Freezes During Autotag
- Wait a few minutes -large operations can temporarily freeze the UI
- Check the Jobs panel to see if processing is still active
- If truly frozen, force-close Revit (unsaved changes will be lost)
- Report persistent freezing to support with model details
Tag Positioning Issues
Tags overlapping or poorly positioned in congested areas.
Fixes
- Use Tag Selector + Sort Cluster for quick cleanup
- Adjust position settings in your profile for more spacing
- Enable leader lines for congested areas
- Use Align Elbows to create clean vertical rails
